Layne’s roots trace back to eastern New Mexico, and he spent his early years working and hunting on his family’s ranch in south Texas. Initially, he pursued a football scholarship at Southern Methodist University before transferring to Texas Tech University, where he continued his athletic pursuits while earning degrees in finance and real estate.
After graduating, Layne returned to Dallas and began his career in the steakhouse franchise industry, managing operations across Texas and surrounding states. However, his professional path took a turn, and he transitioned into the insurance industry in the Dallas area, where he worked for several years. In 2006, Layne rediscovered his passion for ranch real estate and returned to the field.
Now living in Dallas with his wife, Sonya, Layne’s love for ranching is rooted in his upbringing. Beyond his family’s ranch, he also gained hands-on experience on large farms in eastern New Mexico during his high school and college years. In his free time, Layne enjoys golf and hunting, often sharing these passions with his sons.
