The Jonah Creek Ranch is a Texas Panhandle Ranch, located northeast of Estelline in northwestern Childress County. Access to the ranch is good, located on a well- maintained county graded road, and being only ½ mile off paved FM 1619.

The ranch topography consists of rolling, to areas of rougher native grassland with tree lined draws, and 0.7 miles of live water on Jonah Creek. The brush canopy is moderate to dense and provides excellent wildlife cover. There are approximately 20 acres of cultivated land on the east side that is currently used for wheat and/or a food plot. Irrigated land joins the property to the east, and the potential could exist to develop irrigation on portions of the property with further investigation.

There are no structural improvements on the ranch. Single phase electricity service is available.

The main feature of the ranch is Jonah Creek, which traverses the property from north to south for approximately .7 miles with live water.  There is a windmill on the west side of the property. Per the owner, it is believed to be operational, but in need of repair.

 

HUNTING AND RECREATION

Located in the Texas Panhandle, very good populations of mule deer and whitetail are found on the ranch, and have been observed with each on-site visit. Other wildlife include dove, quail, turkey, coyotes and the occasional bobcat.

The Jonah Creek Ranch has been in the same family ownership for 3 generations and is now being offered for sale. This offering affords the buyer the opportunity to purchase a smaller size hunting/recreational ranch property with over a half mile of Jonah Creek with live water. It’s about an hour and half drive from Amarillo, and about an hour and 45 minutes from Wichita Falls.  The 2018 property taxes were approximately $359.48 with ag exemption.
