Location  •  Access

  The Christian Farm is located in the northeast-quadrant of Hockley County, being approximately 3.5 miles north of the small community of Opdyke, Texas.  Access is considered to be good, being by graded N. Barton Lane on the west, Delaware Road on the south, Florida Road on the north and graded Concho Road which runs north and south through basically the middle of the property.

General Description

  The Christian Farm is a partially irrigated property.  Approximately 270 acres are covered by two (2) center pivot irrigation systems; however, only approximately 135 acres are being irrigated at this time.  The remainder of the property is operated on a dryland basis. 

The overall terrain varies from nearly level to very gently sloping.  The west two labors have a more level terrain.  The east two labors have slightly more slope, with a playa lake, covering approximately 14 acres, located in the southeast corner of the property.  Some contoured terraces have been constructed on the east two labors to divert runoff water.  Slopes across the entire farm range from 0-3% slopes, with 89% of the farm having slopes that only range from 0-1%.

The elevation over the entire farm changes approximately 20 feet, being approximately 3,485 feet on the west side of the farm and descending down to approximately 3,465 feet on the southeast side of the farm. 

The soil quality is considered to be average for the area, being primarily Acuff loam, 0-1% slopes, which is a Class II irrigated soil and a Class III dryland soil.

Overall, the property is currently in a good state of cultivation.

Irrigation Wells

  Thirteen (13) irrigation wells and a network of underground line are located throughout property.  These wells are equipped with electric submersible pumps.  According to well test information provided by the High Plains Underground Water District, on May 14, 2026 the irrigation wells produced a combined total of approximately 465 gallons per minute.  The total depth of these wells are approximately 157 to 170 feet deep.

Improvements

  Improvements include two (2) center pivot irrigation systems and an older Quonset barn.  The pivots are both 8-tower Zimmatic brand systems, with one being a 1994 model and the other being a 1995 model.
